The Queen Bee
My name is Lexi Parisse and I am a fiber artist and beekeeper. It all began at the Fashion Institute of Technology, where I received a BFA specializing in knitwear. After college I went to work in the NYC fashion industry as an assistant designer, then a design and sales consultant for the largest knitting machine manufacturer in the world, Shima Seiki. While working at Shima, I took a drop spindle class and I was hooked. Now, not only could I create a garment using yarn but I could also create the yarn too! I again needed to dive deeper into my new obsession so I decided to leave my job within the fashion industry, move to Long Island and work on a fiber farm. It’s one thing to work with amazing fiber but it’s another thing to work with the animals that provide it to you. Now I am starting a new venture in my life. I want to not only create and sell beautiful fiber related products but I want to educate people on the fiber arts. This blog will be about sharing my experience with fiber, farming, beekeeping and my life!
